Mountain & Trail Biking


Biking along the North Shore is truly an unforgettable experience. The area is known for its stunning natural beauty, with miles of rugged coastline, lush forests, and beautiful inland lakes. One of the most popular routes is the Gitchi-Gami State Trail, which stretches for more than 86 miles along the North Shore. This trail is perfect for bikers of all skill levels, as it offers a mix of easy, flat stretches and more challenging hills. 

Along the way, bikers will be treated to stunning views of Lake Superior, with its deep blue waters and rugged shoreline. The trail also winds through dense forests, past streams and waterfalls, and through charming towns.

For the more adrenaline driven ride, hop on the Britton Peak Trail. The trail is located within the Temperance River State Park and spans over 7.6 miles. The trail is well-maintained and features a mix of rocky and smooth terrain, making it perfect for riders of all skill levels. 

Another popular trail in Tofte s the Onion River Road Trail. This trail is located in the Superior  National Forest and spans over 9.6 miles. The trail is more challenging than Britton Peak Trails, with steep climbs and technical sections. 

In addition to these trails, the area also has several other mountain biking trails that riders can explore. Some notable trails include Moose Walk Trail by the Silver Bay, the Carlton Peak Trail near Tofte, and the Pincushion Mountain Trail in Grand Marais.
